Description
This is a very interesting receiver, made by Watkins Johnson at the height of their fame. This is the WJ-8940B Tempest Test receiver, range 1 KHz to 1 GHz. This one was used by Atlantic Research to qualify products for data security re-emissions, TEMPEST, a requirement for data security. The basic receiver has 17 bandwidths that range from 200 Hz to 50 MHz, many modes of detection & demodulation such as AM, FM CW, AM/AGC & LOG. Final IF is 21.4 MHz, so all standard WJ IF products can be used. Very sophisticated instrument and very expensive new. Manual function or computer control, via IEEE-488 bus. I have two, so one can go. More data can be found on line, I believe Terry 'O has info on his "Black Receivers" page. Anyway, you will have fun with this if you like RF/microwave stuff! I have listed this as US only for various reasons, weight among them. I would recommend pick-up here in Kentucky or motor freight (you arrange and prepay the freight company). I have a loading dock to get it on the truck here. I guarantee you these were not common, fairly rare actually. Cost was over 0,000. This unit was purchased in working condition long ago, BUT no doubt it has issues from sitting for so long, therefore I am selling it "AS-IS", because I do not want anyone unhappy. After conditioning the capacitors by using a variac on the line input, everything may come up fine, I do not know. Any questions, send me note thru eBay. THE SPECTRUM ANALYZER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE, but the rack cabinet, slides, cables, etc. are. My asking price is 1000.00 less than I paid!
