    1905 at San Francisco, California
    . Incorporated December 12, 1901 in the State of California. Embossed company seal lower left. Certificate No. 530 was issued to Eugene Vergez for 30 shares of capital stock ( per share). Company capital was 0,000. Hand signed by company president George W. Collins and secretary. Certificate is about 5.5” x 10”. Light orange-red print.
    The Red Men were a very popular fraternity in Marin County (north of San Francisco, California) at the end of the 19th Century and beginning of the 20th Century. The San Francisco order of The Red Men's Hall Association was first incorporated on December 24, 1867, located at 510 Bush street, San Francisco, California.
    The Order encouraged "tribes" (individual halls) to become involved in
    civic affairs, including parades, dedications, home-town festivals or other community-wide activities
    The
    original Red Men's Hall Association on the east coast was founded in 1771
    , reorganized in 1834. The principles of the Order are
    Freedom, Friendship and Charity
    . The
    Improved Order of Red Men was founded in Baltimore in 1834
    as a
    fraternal, social, insurance and political society
    in the United States. The
    first tribe was Logan Tribe No. 1 in Baltimore, Maryland
    , which was a lineal descendant of earlier patriotic organizations, the
    Sons of Liberty, Tammany Societies or Columbian Order, and the Society of Red Men
    .
