I have a pile of these HP8640B Generators, turns out one was the "A" model, first I had ever seen close up! I pulled it out and powered it on, seems to work! This is the original "slide rule dial" with a pointer, no counter. It looks like it is working for the most part, It tunes smoothly, and all the controls seems to work. I hooked it to a spectrum analyzer and found it was putting out a signal properly at the right levels for all the bands. I checked AM and FM modulation and they work correctly. It is not all beat up like a military unit usually is, this was at a private company that closed down. It has no options and is .5-512 MHz unit, only flaw I found was two of the small knobs have been broken (I may have a spare or two, will have to dig in my pile). This is perfect for someone who wants a good generator at the right price. I believe the BNC connector on the back may be an additional output to drive a counter, but I did not check. If you have a counter that goes to 550 MHz (and they are cheap these days) you will have essentially all you need! I have listed it as parts as I do not want anyone disappointed, but when given a cursory check-out, appears fine, however sold "As-Is", I am not a used equipment dealer, just a guy with a lot of stuff! So you can use this to fix an optioned unit or two, or bring this up to snuff, etc., Have fun! I still use one of this family, they are a great generator, classic in design and provide a lot of capability for cheap!!! I figure packing at 25.00 and I will only charge actual shipping cost, refunding excess.Happy to answer any questions, please email.
